Takayoshi Kusumoto

patent attorney Takayoshi Kusumoto is a co-founder of KUSUMOTO PATENTS & TRADEMARKS, and is a managing partner of Ishiyama Office. He has over thirty years experience in the practice of intellectual property law with extensive experience in undertaking Japanese and international patent, trademark, and design applications, client consultations and providing advice on patentability, patent infringement, patent validity, and trademark availability and registration. He established KUSUMOTO PATENT OFFICE in 1987. In September 2017, the office was merged with Konan Patent Office, and changed its name to KUSUMOTO PATENTS & TRADEMARKS.

Mr. Kusumoto is a guest professor of University of Shiga Prefecture. He is a member of the AIPPI and the Japan Trademark Association (JTA). He was the president of the Kinki Branch of Japan Patent Attorneys Association (KJPAA) from 2011 to 2012. He was presented the award for encouragement and achievement by the Japan Institute of Invention and innovation (JIII) in 2013.

He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Himeji Institute of Technology (present University of Hyogo). Following graduation, he worked for Sumikin Precision Forge Inc. undertaking design and research in the plasticity of metals. He moved from Sumikin Precision Forge Inc. to a patent law firm in Nagoya, where he accumulated vast experience in intellectual property law.

He was registered as a patent attorney (Registration No. 9424) in 1986.


Tsuneo Fujikawa

patent attorney Tsuneo Fujikawa is a co-founder of KUSUMOTO PATENTS & TRADEMARKS, and is a managing partner of Seta Office. He has over fifteen years experience with Japanese and international patent, utility model, design, and trademark applications, suits against infringements, researches, and client consultations. He established Konan Patent Office in 2003. In September 2017, the office was merged with KUSUMOTO PATENT OFFICE, and changed its name to KUSUMOTO PATENTS & TRADEMARKS.

Mr. Fujikawa is a part-time lecturer of Ryukoku University since 2006. He is an advisor of Shiga Institute of Invention and Innovation. He is a specialist of Shiga Prefecture Industrial Support Center, and an expert of Shiga Prefecture Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Department of Physical Science, Faculty of Science, Hiroshima University. Following graduation, he was an engineer focusing on circuit designs and semiconductor device designs for fifteen years and then intellectual property services for six years.

He was registered as a patent attorney (Registration No. 12133) in 2001.
He was admitted as a Supplementary Note of Specific Infringement Lawsuit Counsel in 2008.


Masaru Mori

patent attorney Masaru Mori, a KUSUMOTO PATENT OFFICE associate, has handled patent prosecution matters relating to mechanical engineering.

Mr. Masaru Mori received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Himeji Institute of Technology (present University of Hyogo). Following graduation, he worked for a machinery tool manufacturing company, engaging in product development for about 10 years.

He was registered as a patent attorney (Registration No.17601) in 2011.


Satoshi Mikumo

Mr. Mikumo received his Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical engineering & Electronics from Osaka Sangyo University. Upon graduation, he took a master’s course at Osaka Sangyo University, receiving his master’s degree in 1998.

Shigeki Nakagawa

Takuro Hiramatsu

Mr. Hiramatsu took a master’s course at the Division of Food Science and Biotechnology, Graduate School of Agriculture, Kyoto University, receiving his master’s degree in 2005.
